Instructions
Prepare the Vegetables:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and bell pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables soften and become fragrant (about 5 minutes).
- Add the minced garlic, ground cumin, and paprika. Cook for another minute until the spices are fragrant.
Add the Mareli Marinara Sauce:
- Pour in the jar of Mareli Marinara Sauce (Original or Spicy, as per your taste). Stir well to combine with the vegetables.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5-10 minutes so the flavors meld together. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Poach the Eggs: Create small wells in the sauce with a spoon. Gently crack an egg into each well.
- Cover the skillet with a lid and let the eggs cook for about 5-10 minutes, or until they are poached to your desired level of doneness. You can leave them runny or cook until fully set.
- Garnish and Serve: Once the eggs are cooked, take the skillet off the heat.
- Garnish your Shakshuka with chopped parsley or cilantro.
- Serve hot with crusty bread or pita to scoop up the delicious sauce and eggs.
